DeKalb County Voter Registration and Elections (DeKalb VRE) has completed preliminary tabulations for the special election to fill the vacant Georgia House District 90 seat, previously held by long-time lawmaker Pamela Stephenson. The runoff election is between candidates Angela Moore and Stan Watson, who both received the highest number of votes during the Feb. 9 special election.

The DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will hold a virtual Parks Citizen Advisory Board Committee meeting on Tuesday, March 23, at 6 p.m. The meeting to discuss current park improvements and recreation projects will be conducted via Zoom at https://dekalbcountyga.zoom.us/j/83074304595.

DeKalb County Cooperative Extension will host “March Backyard Gardening” virtual classes for free. The “Pollinators Attractors Spring Planting" class will be on March 11 from 6 to 7 p.m. The “Spring Veggies and Herbs" class will be on March 15 6 to 7 p.m. The “Conifers for South" class will be on March 18 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The “Backyard Blueberry” class will be on March 24 6 to 7 p.m.

DeKalb County Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson will host a town hall for residents to provide a progress report on District 7 initiatives currently established, those in development and those estimated for the near future. The DeKalb County District 7 First Quarter Town Hall will take place Thursday, March 11, at 6 p.m. and will take place virtually on Zoom.

DeKalb County Public Library Board of Trustees will hold a regular meeting at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 8, 2021. This meeting will be conducted via teleconference (Zoom).
