DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond will give his outlook for 2021 during a virtual State of the County address program today at 1 p.m. Business leaders and other community partners are invited to view the State of the County address to be delivered during a ticketed, virtual program hosted by the Council for Quality Growth and DeKalb Chamber of Commerce.

Tonight, on Feb. 23, 2021, at 7 p.m., Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson will host a virtual Black History Panel Discussion titled, “The Evolution of Voting Rights in Black America: From Picking Cotton to Picking Presidents and Senators.” The event will be streamed on all DeKalb County Television (DCTV23) platforms and Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson’s Facebook page for the public to view.

As the body entrusted to oversee elections at the county level, the DeKalb County Board of Registration & Elections has a vested interest in the legislation being advanced by the Special Elections Integrity Committee and others during the 2021 legislative session. We have volunteered our time and energy to be accountable for ensuring equitable access to the vote by all eligible voters and for ensuring that elections in DeKalb County are conducted efficiently and in accordance with all applicable laws.

The DeKalb Board of Voter Registration and Elections approved slight changes to advance voting times for two upcoming elections. The board voted to adjust all available advance voting times to begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 4:30 p.m. to align the Georgia House District 90 runoff election and Clarkston City Council special election.
