DeKalb County will lift its five-year-old water service disconnection moratorium for residential water accounts on Sept. 1, 2021. Residential water service customers may avoid service disconnection in one of four ways. For customers who have requested an Installment Plan Agreement, COVID-19 Hardship Plan or dispute, water service will not be disconnected.

DeKalb County District 4 Commissioner Steve Bradshaw has appropriated $575,000 to assist nine nonprofit, community agencies in helping DeKalb residents with housing and food insecurities, and other essential needs due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The aid comes from District 4 American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding.

On Monday, Aug. 30, DeKalb County and its contractors will repair a leaking 16-inch-diameter water line on Peachcrest Road, between Maplehurst Drive and Columbia Drive. Work is expected to last approximately five hours, unless unforeseen circumstances arise that may impact this schedule. Residents and businesses should expect a water outage while the line is replaced on Monday, Aug. 30, between 3 and 8 p.m.

DeKalb County will give a $100 prepaid debit card to everyone who receives a COVID-19 vaccination on Saturday, Aug. 28. From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., DeKalb County Board of Health and DeKalb County Fire Rescue will administer voluntary COVID-19 vaccinations to anyone 12 years of age and older at The Mall at Stonecrest, 2929 Turner Hill Rd., Stonecrest, GA 30038. All persons receiving a vaccination also will receive a $100 prepaid debit card.

DeKalb County Watershed Department received a call at 7:21 p.m. last night, Aug. 19., about a 6-inch water main break at 2804 Mt. Olive Dr., Decatur. Crews were dispatched and onsite by 7:45 p.m. The break has been located and the county has initiated plans to repair the break.
