DeKalb County Commissioners Mereda Davis Johnson and Larry Johnson will distribute free school uniforms during DeKalb’s vaccination event on Saturday, Aug. 28. “It is an honor to partner with our CEO and Commissioner Larry Johnson in this collaborative effort to serve our community,” said Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson. “DeKalb, once again, is on the cutting edge in improving the quality of life for our citizens.”

DeKalb County will give a $100 prepaid debit card to everyone who receives a COVID-19 vaccination on Saturday, Aug. 28. The vaccination event will feature guest appearances by renowned gospel singer Dottie Peoples, NBA legend Dikembe Motumbo, trumpeter extraordinaire Milkshake Mayfield, and award-winning gospel radio host Larry Tinsley.

DeKalb County Cooperative Extension will host “September Gardening” virtual classes for free. All classes are virtual via Zoom. Registration is required and can be completed at https://ugeorgia.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1TW9RVXFAiG0BYa.

DeKalb County will lift its five-year-old water service disconnection moratorium for residential water accounts on Sept. 1, 2021. Residential water service customers may avoid service disconnection in one of four ways. For customers who have requested an Installment Plan Agreement, COVID-19 Hardship Plan or dispute, water service will not be disconnected.

DeKalb County District 4 Commissioner Steve Bradshaw has appropriated $575,000 to assist nine nonprofit, community agencies in helping DeKalb residents with housing and food insecurities, and other essential needs due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The aid comes from District 4 American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding.
