On Monday, Nov. 1, DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management (DWM) and its contractors will replace an existing 6-inch with an 8-inch water line on Appalachee Drive. Work is expected to last approximately 4 weeks, unless unforeseen circumstances arise that may impact this schedule. Residents and businesses should not expect a water outage while the line is replaced.

DeKalb’s Board of Registration and Elections recently approved an additional change to polling locations ahead of the Nov. 2 General Election. Due to various issues including ongoing construction at previous polling locations, some voters in Chamblee, Decatur, Doraville, Stone Mountain and Stonecrest may be assigned a new polling location this election cycle.

On Nov. 3, a portion of the northbound lane along Briarcliff Road, crossing North Druid Hills Road between QuikTrip and Chick-fil-A, will be closed Monday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Crews will work to replace 160 linear feet of ductile-iron water pipe. Eastbound traffic on North Druid Hills Road will also be impacted by this closure on Briarcliff Road. This section of Briarcliff Road will reopen on Saturday, Nov. 13.

DeKalb County District 7 Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson is partnering with the DeKalb County School District’s (DCSD) Department of Family and Community Empowerment to host the inaugural DeKalb County Trunk & Treat for Halloween. The DeKalb County Trunk & Treat will officially kick off DCSD’s Family Engagement Month and will take place at Northlake Mall on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021, from 3 to 6 p.m.
