The DeKalb County Sanitation Division will host a free paper shredding event Saturday, June 11, 2022, from 8 a.m.-noon, at the DeKalb County Sanitation Division’s Central Transfer Station, 3720 Leroy Scott Drive, Decatur, GA 30032. Event participants will have an opportunity to responsibly dispose of all types of documents, including sensitive personal documents such as old tax records and legal documents.

The DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will hold a community meeting to review the renovations of the N.H. Scott Pool Wednesday, May 25, at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will provide guidance for future county pool improvements and program development.

The DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will hold a second community meeting about Pleasantdale Park Thursday, June 23, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. The meeting will be held in the cafeteria at Pleasantdale Elementary School, 3680 Pleasantdale Road, Atlanta, Ga.

DeKalb County Government is partnering with local faith leaders to distribute 5,000 boxes of fresh fruit and vegetables, dozens of eggs and 10-pound bags of chicken hindquarters on Saturday, May 21. “High food prices continue to plague working families and senior citizens struggling to keep food on their tables,” DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond said. “DeKalb County and our faith partners are holding this food distribution to help relieve that burden.”

Palafox Drive NE, between Argonne Way NE and Woodland Hills Drive NE, will be closed to through-traffic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, May 20, to facilitate a large crane removal of a tree at 1135 Palafox Drive NE, Atlanta, Ga. 30324. Road closure and detour signs will be placed in the area during the road closure period advising motorists of construction work in the area and of local traffic restrictions.
