Q. How can I get a copy of a deed, plat, or survey?
A. GIS does not provide copies.
- If you know the deed book/page or plat book/page number, visit the Clerk of Superior Court – Contact Real Estate form and include those details.
- For help, call the Clerk’s Real Estate Division at

Q. I don’t know the deed or plat book/page number. Can GIS find it?
A. Yes. Email the Mapping Team: mappingteam@dekalbcountyga.gov . Include the property address or parcel ID to confirm the latest book and page number.
Q. Does GIS perform property surveys?
A. No. Contact a licensed land surveyor or engineer.
Q. My neighbor is encroaching on my property - can GIS help?
A. GIS cannot resolve disputes. Obtain your recorded plat or deed from the Clerk’s office, then consult a lawyer or licensed surveyor for assistance.
Q. How do I correct the owner’s name on a tax record?
A. Email the recorded deed to the Deed Team
deedteam@dekalbcountyga.gov with the subject line:
Ownership Update (include address or parcel ID).
Q. Can a financing statement update the owner’s name?
A. No. Only a notarized, executed, and recorded deed is accepted.
Q. What do I need to bring when visiting the One-Stop-Shop to update ownership?
A. Provide a notarized, signed, and recorded deed – either as an email or hardcopy.
Q. What documents are required to correct the owner’s name?
A. A notarized, signed, and recorded deed (e.g., Quit Claim, Limited Warranty, Warranty, Trustee Deed) to the Deed Team with subject: Ownership Update (include address or parcel ID).
Q. How do I list my tenant as the new property owner on tax records?
A. Email a notarized, signed, and recorded leasing agreement to the Deed Team with subject: Ownership Update (include address or parcel ID).
