DeKalb County Fire Rescue to Host Female Firefighter Weekend

DeKalb County Fire Rescue (DCFR) and the City of Decatur Fire Department will host a female firefighter weekend on June 22 - 23 to celebrate and empower women firefighters. The two-day community event will educate the public on the vital roles, challenges, and achievements of female firefighters through educational talks, practical demonstrations, and interactive activities. On June 22, at DeKalb County Fire Station #7, 1712 Columbia Drive, Decatur, Ga. 30032, the community will receive in depth insight into the life of a firefighter, including a tour of the new fire station and a live demonstration. Public Information Open House Event set the North Fork and South Fork Peachtree Creek Trunk Sewer Upsizing Project on June 4

Efforts to improve the watershed system throughout DeKalb County continue with the design of the North Fork and South Fork Peachtree Creek Trunk Sewer Upsizing Project. The DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management will host a Public Information Open House event about this project from 4:30-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 4, at DeKalb County Central Senior Center, 1346 McConnell Drive, Decatur, GA 30033.

DeKalb Board of Registration and Elections Certifies Results, Announces Runoff Election Details

The DeKalb Board of Registration and Elections (DeKalb BRE) certified the Primary Election results and announced details related to the upcoming runoff election, during its May 28 regularly scheduled meeting. DeKalb Cooperative Extension Announces Upcoming 4-H Event

DeKalb County Cooperative Extension will hold its 4-H AgTech Camp--June 10-12, 2024,10 a.m. to noon. This event, for 4-H'ers in grades 3-12, will take place at Rainbow Park Baptist Church at 2941 Columbia Drive, Decatur, Georgia 30034. Cloverleafs (grades 3-6) will make bird feeders, while juniors (grades 7 and 8) and seniors (grades 9 through 12) will learn about gardening.

Commissioner Robert Patrick Recognizes Two Trailblazing Leaders in DeKalb County for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with his Trailblazer Award

Commissioner Robert Patrick celebrated two trailblazing individuals in DeKalb County by giving his Trailblazer Award to Charlene Fang, a current board member of the DeKalb County Board of Assessors and former chair and vice-chair of the board, and Judge Alvin T. Wong, Chief Judge of DeKalb County State Court, for their remarkable contributions to DeKalb County. He honored them with the District 1, 2024 Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Trailblazer Award during the Board of Commissioners' regular business meeting on May 28, 2024.
