Registered voters in DeKalb County planning to cast an absentee ballot for the Tuesday, May 24, 2022, primary election are encouraged to begin the process as early as March 7, 2022. The application is the first step in obtaining an absentee ballot and a valid ID is required.

Today, DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond announced the appointment of Judge Ronald B. Ramsey Sr. to serve as the chair of the DeKalb Charter Review Commission. “Judge Ramsey’s judicial and legislative experience will be invaluable as we continue reviewing the county charter to ensure that we are responsive to needs of current and future residents of DeKalb,” CEO Thurmond said.

Today, DeKalb CEO Michael Thurmond presented a $1.2 billion FY2022 budget proposal to the Board of Commissioners that includes $14.1 million to improve retention, recruitment and training for police, fire, and other public safety personnel. “Our men and women who protect and serve the citizens of DeKalb are the most critical components of our workforce.” said CEO Michael Thurmond.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT), in coordination with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), proposes to reconstruct the I-285 at Bouldercrest Road interchange and add collector-distributor lanes on new location to provide ramps between I-675 and Bouldercrest Road in DeKalb County. The proposed Bouldercrest Road bridge over I-285 is proposed to be approximately 115 feet wide and would have six, 12-foot-wide travel lanes (two southbound turn lanes and two northbound through lanes), 5-foot, 6-inch sidewalks on both sides, and two, 4-foot-wide bicycle lanes (one in each direction).
