The DeKalb Board of Registration and Elections meeting for the purpose of conducting its normal monthly business will be held on Thursday, March 10, at 4:30 p.m. This meeting will be conducted via teleconference (Zoom). Today, the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners voted 6-1 to approve CEO Michael Thurmond’s FY2022 budget which includes a 6.25 percent increase in compensation for eligible sworn public safety personnel, making the pandemic front-line pay permanent for these employees.

DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson, in his role as the District 3 Commissioner and president of the National Association of Counties (NACo), partnered with NACo and the National Council on Mental Wellbeing to offer the National Council’s Mental Health First Aid USA training to DeKalb County residents on Feb. 28 at 6 p.m.

Registered voters in DeKalb County planning to cast an absentee ballot for the Tuesday, May 24, 2022, primary election are encouraged to begin the process as early as March 7, 2022. The application is the first step in obtaining an absentee ballot and a valid ID is required.

Today, DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond announced the appointment of Judge Ronald B. Ramsey Sr. to serve as the chair of the DeKalb Charter Review Commission. “Judge Ramsey’s judicial and legislative experience will be invaluable as we continue reviewing the county charter to ensure that we are responsive to needs of current and future residents of DeKalb,” CEO Thurmond said.
