DeKalb County will kick off its Bicentennial festivities on Dec. 9, 2022, which marks the founding of the county in 1822. The yearlong celebration of the county’s rich, diverse history and culture will begin at 6 p.m. in the Historic DeKalb County Courthouse, located at 101 East Court Square, Decatur.

Commissioner Steve Bradshaw allocated $131,715 in park bond funds to complete engineering documents for Rowland Neighborhood Park in District 4. Rowland Neighborhood Park, located at 1227 Rowland Road in Stone Mountain, is situated on two acres of land with a small creek running through it.

DeKalb County’s Hamilton Recreation Center will host a Parents Night Out and Kids’ Pajama and Pancake Party on Friday, Dec. 16, located at 3262 Chapel Street, Scottdale, Ga. 30079, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The Parents Night Out program offers a safe, fun environment for children to spend an evening while parents enjoy a little time to themselves.

N Ridgeway Road NE, between Fairwood Lane NE and Briarcliff Road NE, will be closed to through-traffic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5 through Monday, Dec. 19 to facilitate the point repair on a sanitary sewer line at 1919 N Ridgeway Road NE. Road closure and detour signs will be placed in the area during the road closure period advising motorists of construction work in the area and of local traffic restrictions.
