On Monday, April 3, a portion of the Church Street, between Norris Street and Geneva Street, will have a lane closure while crews work to repair sewer pipe. This work will continue through Friday, April 21, barring any weather issues. The Small Diameter Sewer Cleaning Project is part of DeKalb County’s $2.4 billion capital improvement program, the Department of Watershed Management (DWM) will be improving the capacity and service of the Watershed systems serving your community.

Efforts to improve water service capacity throughout DeKalb County continue Monday, April 3, with the launch of the Keswick Drive Water Line Replacement Project. Crews will replace 450 linear feet of crumbling water lines with new 8-inch-diameter ductile-iron water lines along Keswick Drive. This line repair project is expected to last approximately one month (April 2023 to May 2023), barring any weather delays.

Today, DeKalb County announced that it will reopen its Tenant-Landlord Assistance Coalition (TLAC) program on Monday, April 3, 2023, and begin accepting new applications. The TLAC program, which provides relief to tenants and landlords affected by the pandemic, to date has distributed $53.7 million for rent and utilities to more than 5,500 DeKalb families.

The DeKalb County Police Department is leading a multijurisdictional task force effort that will implement Phase 2 of the process designed to reopen Intrenchment Creek Park. DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond issued an executive order on March 24 restricting public access to the park and other adjacent county-owned properties due to the discovery of “hidden traps or other devices designed to injure, maim, or cause the death of adults, children, and pets.”

Efforts to improve water service capacity throughout DeKalb County will continue in June with the launch of the Scott Boulevard Phase II Water Main Replacement Project. Crews will replace 10,000 linear feet of crumbling water lines with new 30-inch-diameter ductile-iron water lines along DeKalb Industrial Boulevard. This water main replacement project is expected to last approximately 18 months (June 2023 to December 2024), barring any weather delays.
