The “cautionary” boil water advisory, which began Friday, Feb. 2, for has been cancelled after the Georgia Environmental Protection Division reviewed a series of microbiological test results and authorized the advisory to be lifted. The advisory was in effect for the area bounded by Scott Boulevard on the north; Avondale Road through Old Rockbridge Road on the south; Interstate 285 on the east; and DeKalb Industrial Way on the west.

DeKalb County Watershed crews were treated to a pizza dinner by a customer impacted by a water main break on McLendon Drive. DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond said, “We are grateful to Ms. Sruti Nuthalapati for providing our crews pizza as they work diligently to repair the water main.” A tree crew has removed a large tree at the site of the water main break and watershed crews have begun repairs. Georgia Power has restored service to the area.

Out of an abundance of caution, the DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management (DWM) is issuing a boil water advisory for the area bounded by Scott Boulevard on the north; Avondale Road through Old Rockbridge Road on the south; Interstate 285 on the east; and DeKalb Industrial Way on the west. A water main break today caused some customers to experience low to no pressure in their homes.

A crew continues to work to remove a large tree at the site of a water main break on McLendon Drive. Once the tree is removed, DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management crews will shore up the approximately 10-foot-deep hole to make it safe for workers to repair the pipe. Once the hole is made safe, workers will be able to estimate the time needed to make the repair. The materials needed to make the repairs are onsite.

The East Central DeKalb Community and Senior Center will host an Easter Egg Dive on Saturday, March 9, 4885 Elam Road, Stone Mountain, Ga., from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 pm. Registration is now open. The registration fee is $10 per participant. Patrons must be between the ages of 5 to 15 to participate. The pool will be filled with colorful eggs for participants to jump in the water and collect along with music, arts & crafts activities and more. Registration will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
