Efforts to improve the watershed system throughout DeKalb County continue Monday, March 31, with the launch of the Gravity Sewer Rehabilitation and Replacement Project. Crews will replace approximately 3,091 feet of gravity sewer main between Eastwyck Drive and Saratoga Drive. This sewer improvement project is expected to last approximately twelve months (March 2025 to March 2026), barring any weather delays.

The DeKalb County Board of Registration and Elections (DeKalb BRE) unanimously approved a series of proposed polling place changes during its regularly scheduled meeting on March 13, 2025. These changes, which include multiple temporary relocations and one permanent adjustment, will take effect during the June 17 Special Primary. 

On Wed., Mar.19, 2025, through Mon., Apr. 7, 2025, Northview Avenue will be closed to through traffic from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to facilitate the installation of sewer and storm tie-ins at 1901 Eastfield Street, Decatur, GA 30032. Road closure and detour signs will be placed in the area during the road closure period advising motorists of construction work in the area and of local traffic restrictions.

On Mon., Mar. 24, 2025, through Thurs. Mar. 27, 2025 Hayden Quarry Road will be closed to through traffic from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.mm. between Turner Hill Rd. and Klondike Rd. to facilitate the installation of water line crossings on 7199 Hayden Rd, Lithonia, GA 30038. Road closure and detour signs will be placed in the area during the road closure period advising motorists of construction work in the area and of local traffic restrictions.

A dangerous storm system, including tornadoes, damaging winds, heavy rain, and hail, is expected to impact DeKalb County overnight. Residents are urged to take immediate precautions. To ensure safety, DeKalb County is opening four severe weather centers on Saturday, March 15, at 8 PM. Transportation will be available from designated pickup locations across DeKalb County.
