The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) has announced that it has awarded $200,000 in Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) grants to DeKalb County for its Kensington Area Master Plan Update. DeKalb County is one of six planning studies across metro Atlanta that were awarded to help communities transform into more walkable, bikeable, live-work-play environments.

Efforts to improve water service capacity throughout DeKalb County will begin on July 7, 2025, with the launch of the Peachtree Industrial Water Transmission Main Replacement Project. This waterline replacement project is expected to be completed in January 2028. Crews will replace approximately 11,000 linear feet of an existing 30-inch carbon steel main with a 36-inch Ductile Iron main.

Efforts to improve the watershed system throughout DeKalb County continue Monday, June 9, with the launch of the College Avenue Water Main Replacement Project. Crews will replace approximately 7,100 linear feet of ductile iron water pipe between Sam Crossings and Lakeshore Drive. This water improvement project is expected to last approximately six months (June 2025 to December 2025), barring any weather delays.
