Commissioner Larry Johnson Sponsors DeKalb County Workforce Housing Ordinance

Commissioner Larry Johnson sponsored DeKalb County’s workforce housing ordinance, which was unanimously approved by the Board of Commissioners and will be effective in December 2023. Commissioner Johnson led the charge for several years for the workforce housing ordinance to help mitigate the challenges of the missing middle. The missing middle are those individuals who make too much to be eligible for subsidized housing, but who don’t make enough to afford the new construction that is happening in the county.

DeKalb County Comes Together to Bring Awareness to National Domestic Violence Month

Co-sponsors Commissioners Steve Bradshaw, District 4, and Michelle Long Spears, District 2, along with the Board of Commissioners and CEO Michael Thurmond, recognized October as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month with a proclamation today at the Board of Commissioners meeting. October was first declared as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month in 1989 acknowledging domestic violence. Domestic violence impacts people regardless of age, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, or nationality.

DeKalb County Public Library Board of Trustees to Meet Monday, Oct. 16

DeKalb County Public Library Board of Trustees will hold a regular meeting at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 16, 2023. The meeting will be held at Embry Hills Library, 3733 Chamblee-Tucker Road, Chamblee, GA 30341. The meeting will also be live-streamed. DKPD Police Athletic League to Host Second Annual PAL Pumpkin 5k Run/Walk

The DeKalb County Police Department's Police Athletic League is hosting its Second Annual PAL Pumpkin 5k Run/Walk on October 28, 2023, at 9 a.m. On race day, there will also be activities for the whole family. Registration for the race is only $35. A signature race t-shirt and participation race medal will be given to each registered participant. Race awards will be given in several age categories.
