Ryan Cameron and chef and restaurant chain owner Erica Barrett are announcing the grand opening of the Dough Boy Pizza Co. with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, cohosted by Commissioner Lorraine Cochran Johnson and the DeKalb Chamber. The event will take place at 11 a.m. at The Gallery at South DeKalb Mall, 2801 Candler Rd., Decatur, Ga. 30034.

Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson, in partnership with the 100 Black Men of DeKalb County and the DeKalb County School District, presents the 5th Annual Lock-in for Life event to foster male youth development for students ages 13-18. The program provides middle and high schoolers with intense workshops, critical conversations, and positive male interactions, focusing on nonviolence, social skills and behaviors, mental health, and positive peer interactions.

Due to forecasted cold weather, DeKalb County will open five warming centers for residents on Dec. 12, Dec. 13, Dec. 14 and Dec. 15, starting at 8 p.m. each night to use. Anyone staying in the warming centers must follow the county’s COVID-19 protocols that include wearing a mask, social distancing and undergoing a temperature check.

The DeKalb County Police Department’s Community Policing Unit is hosting its Annual Winter Clothing Drive on Dec. 15, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside of DeKalb Police Headquarters in the roundabout, 1960 West Exchange Place, Tucker, Ga. The community is asked to help keep DeKalb County residents warm by donating gently used shoes and coats or new socks to help those in need. Donations for all sizes and genders are requested.
