DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond announces the promotion of Andrew Cauthen to chief communications officer. Cauthen, who will serve as the county chief communications officer, has been with the county since 2016, most recently serving as communications manager. An award-winning journalist with extensive experience covering local and state government in South Carolina and Georgia, Cauthen has more than 20 years of journalism and communications experience.

The DeKalb Board of Registration and Elections meeting for the purpose of conducting its normal monthly business and certification of election results will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024, at noon. This meeting will be conducted in person at 4380 Memorial Drive, Decatur, Ga. 30032. Public comments may be made in person or submitted by sending an email of one printed page or less at a minimum font of 12 to electionspubliccmnt@dekalbcountyga.gov, which must be received between 35 and 5 minutes before the scheduled start of the meeting.

Commissioner Michelle Long Spears of DeKalb County’s District 2, in collaboration with the DeKalb Board of Commissioners, DeKalb administration, and a volunteer-led design team, announces that registration is open for the State of DeKalb Animals address and luncheon, scheduled for Wednesday, April 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Historic DeKalb Courthouse in Decatur.

The DeKalb County Board of Ethics will conduct its regular meeting on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Maloof Auditorium, located at 1300 Commerce Dr., Decatur, Ga. 30030.

Efforts to improve service capacity throughout DeKalb County will continue with the launch of the Cobb Fowler South Trunk Sewer Upsizing Project. Crews will upsize approximately 3.3 miles of sewer lines. This project is expected to last approximately 36 months (spring 2025 to summer 2028), barring any weather delays.
