Through a coordinated network of specialized divisions, the Department addresses community needs related to aging, youth development, family support, transportation access, and partnerships that strengthen countywide services.

Senior Centers
DeKalb County’s four neighborhood senior centers are welcoming community hubs that help older adults stay active, informed, and connected. The centers offer a range of programs and services that support healthy aging and social engagement.
Adults ages 60 and older may enjoy free, hot, nutritious lunches served Monday through Friday in a friendly, social setting. Membership is required and open to DeKalb County residents ages 60 and older.

Multipurpose Senior Centers support DeKalb County’s growing senior population by offering welcoming spaces for connection, enrichment, and support. Through the Human Services Department and Office of Aging, the County recognizes the lasting contributions of older adults and remains committed to helping them stay active, healthy, and engaged in the community.
DeKalb County operates three multipurpose senior centers and four neighborhood senior centers, conveniently located throughout the County. These centers offer a range of programs and services, including educational and wellness activities, meals, and caregiver support. The DeKalb County Human Services Office of Transportation provides safe, reliable rides for eligible seniors (60+) and individuals with disabilities. Our mission is to help residents stay active, independent, and connected to their community.
Services are offered through the Georgia DHS Coordinated Transportation System using ADA-compliant vehicles, including wheelchair-accessible vans.

Quality of Life Transportation Program
Supports older adults by helping them stay engaged in their communities. Eligible participants may choose their own drivers for trips to:
- Grocery stores
- Department stores
- Other approved destinations
Includes a modest cost-share/administrative fee (based on program guidelines).

The MIECHV Program promotes child and family well-being from pregnancy through age five. Funded by the Georgia Department of Public Health and U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, the program connects families to resources that improve:

Participation is free, voluntary, and confidential.

First Steps
Provides expectant mothers and families with newborn–age 5 children a Parent Resource Packet with referrals for health, safety, education, and family support.

The Office of Partnerships & External Affairs collaborates with nonprofits, foundations, schools, corporations, health care providers, and government agencies to advance the mission of DeKalb County Human Services. By building strong partnerships, we expand resources, strengthen programs, and improve quality of life for all residents.
