In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 18, garbage, recyclable materials and yard trimmings collection for residential customers will be based on a revised collection schedule. The North Transfer Station will be open from 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 18, resuming normal operating hours on Tuesday, Jan. 19. The Central Transfer Station, Seminole Road Landfill and Customer Care call center will be closed on Monday, Jan. 18, reopening on Tuesday, Jan. 19, during normal operating hours.

DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson will host a virtual panel discussion regarding illegal street racing on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, from 6 to 7 p.m. Commissioner Johnson will feature Sen. Emanuel Jones, Bobbie Sanford, Camaro Nation ATL and DeKalb County Public Safety representatives.

DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections (DeKalb VRE) resumed counting on Jan. 6, at 11:30 a.m., at 4380 Memorial Drive in Decatur. Outstanding ballots include provisional ballots and absentee ballots received on Election Day by the 7 p.m. deadline. Overseas and military ballots must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 8. DeKalb VRE plans to certify the election results on Friday, Jan. 15, at noon.

DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections (DeKalb VRE) is ready for what is slated to be a historic runoff on Jan. 5, when voters will decide two U.S. Senate seats from Georgia and the Georgia Public Service commissioner. “It’s been a successful few months of elections for DeKalb County and we are prepared for the Jan. 5 runoff,” said DeKalb VRE Director Erica Hamilton. “Our team continues to work tirelessly to ensure every voter has the opportunity to cast a ballot and we will apply that same dedication as we safely and accurately count each and every vote.”
