DeKalb County is alerting residents to a significant increase in flu-related emergency calls, based on data and observations from the County’s emergency medical services partner, American Medical Response (AMR). According to AMR, flu-related 911 calls in DeKalb County have increased by approximately 60% over the past several weeks, reflecting a broader statewide and national trend. Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows flu activity in Georgia is currently extremely high, with hospitalizations increasing across the country.

The DeKalb County Board of Registration & Elections (DeKalb BRE) will hold their Scheduled Meeting on Thursday, Jan. 8 at 4:30 p.m. for the purpose of conducting normal business. This meeting will be conducted in person at 4380 Memorial Drive, Decatur, Ga. 30032. Public comments may be made in person or submitted by sending an email of one printed page or less at a minimum font of 12 to electionspubliccmnt@dekalbcountyga.gov which must be received between 35 and 5 minutes before the scheduled start of the meeting. DECATUR, Ga. – Due to forecasted freezing temperatures and hazardous wind chills, DeKalb County will activate warming centers beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. December 29, 30, 31. All transportation routes originate from Frontline Response Headquarters (2585 Gresham Rd SE, Atlanta) and are scheduled for initial pickups to be completed by 7:30 p.m. Following the initial routes, final sweeps will continue from 7:30 p.m. until 10 p.m., ending promptly at 10 p.m.
