How We Serve

The DeKalb County Communications Department works diligently to provide residents with good information.

The Office of Communications provides strategic, timely, and accurate information to keep DeKalb County residents informed and engaged.

Operating as the County’s central communications hub, the team leads public information, media relations, digital communications, graphic design, video production, and emergency messaging.

Through clear and consistent communication across multiple platforms, the Office of Communications supports transparency, strengthens public trust, and highlights the programs and initiatives that serve DeKalb County.

Public Affairs

The Public Affairs team manages the County’s communication with media, the public, and county officials. They draft official statements and press releases, coordinate news conferences and events, and lead crisis communication efforts. Working closely with county leadership, they ensure the public receives timely, accurate, and relevant information.

What We Do:

  • Respond to media, public, and county official inquiries
  • Organize news conferences, media availabilities, and public events
  • Manage Georgia Open Records Act requests from the media
  • Draft press releases and official statements
  • Support special projects, groundbreakings, and ribbon-cuttings
  • Lead crisis communication efforts
Digital Media & Design

The Digital Media & Design team manages DeKalb County’s online presence, ensuring every digital interaction reflects the County’s mission and identity. They create and oversee social media content, digital campaigns, newsletters, and email communications, while also providing countywide graphic design services. Their work ensures brand consistency, accessibility, and compelling visual storytelling across all departments.

  • Manage and execute social media strategy
  • Produce digital campaigns, newsletters, and email updates
  • Design branded visuals for digital and print
  • Maintain visual identity and accessibility standards
  • Provide creative design support for County projects

DCTV (DeKalb County Television)

DCTV provides government transparency and community engagement through original video content, event broadcasts, and public meeting coverage. The team captures and shares the stories of DeKalb – from major policy updates to community milestones – ensuring residents receive timely, accurate, and visually engaging information.

What We Do:

  • Produce original video content on county programs and services
  • Broadcast public meetings and special events
  • Document major policy announcements and community initiatives

Proclamations

Request a Proclamation

DeKalb County CEO proclamations recognize special honors, cultural events, nonprofit organizations, and significant milestones.

Requirements:

  • Must be requested by DeKalb County citizens  or organizations
  • 21 business days advance notice required
  • Must be relevant to DeKalb County
  • Include 4-6 "Whereas" clauses in draft language
