Know Before You Go: DeKalb County Voter Registration and Elections Prepares Voters for May 21 General Primary

The DeKalb County Voter Registration and Elections Office (DeKalb VRE) encourages all registered voters to make a plan to vote for the upcoming May 21, 2024 General Primary Election. 

 

Voters are also urged to remain aware of any possible impacts to local mail service in requesting and returning voter-related documents.   

Here are 10 things for DeKalb voters to know before voting this election: 

 

  1. Advance voting begins Monday, April 29, through Friday, May 17. For a list of locations and operating hours, visit www.DeKalbVotes.com.
  2. Weekend voting is available on:
    • Saturday, May 4 and May 11, 9 a.m.– 6 p.m
    • Sunday, May 5, noon – 5 p.m.
    • No voting on Sunday, May 12, in observance of Mother’s Day
  3. During the advance voting period, registered DeKalb County voters can vote at any DeKalb County advance voting location.
  4. Registered voters can quickly and easily request and track important voting documents online, including precinct cards and absentee ballots. Visit www.DeKalbVotes.com to learn more.
  5. For voters who plan to vote with an absentee ballot, it’s critical to request a ballot right away. With recent impacts to local mail service delivery, voters should provide ample time to request and return voter information and absentee ballots.
  6. Select advance voting locations will include drop boxes for completed absentee ballots. Drop boxes are only accessible during operating hours. For a list of drop box locations, visit www.DeKalbVotes.com under the Advance Voting tab.
  7. Completed absentee ballots can also be hand-delivered to the DeKalb VRE office, located at 4380 Memorial Drive, Suite 300, in Decatur, Ga. 30032.
  8. Voting information is available in Spanish, Korean, and Amharic on DeKalb VRE’s website at www.DeKalbVotes.comunder the Current Elections Information tab.
  9. Voters who wish to vote on Election Day, Tuesday, May 21, must vote at their assigned precinct. We encourage voters to verify their precinct before heading to the polls - visit www.DeKalbvotes.com for more info.
