The DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the reopening of the pool revitalized pool, followed by the Tilson Community Celebration on Saturday, June 6th, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the N.H. Scott Pool, 2230 Tilson Road, Decatur, GA.

A total of $3.6 million project was funded through DeKalb County’s Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) program and represents a significant investment in recreation, wellness, and community engagement for residents of South DeKalb. The newly redeveloped aquatic center features a fully modernized 8-lane pool along with a beach-style zero-depth entry area designed to provide accessible, family-friendly amenities for visitors of all ages. The project also includes four newly constructed support buildings, including a pump house, bathhouse, administrative building, and storage facility.

Directly across from the pool, the N.H. Scott Park has also received major recreational upgrades. Through SPLOST funding and support from the Atlanta Hawks, the basketball courts were renovated with updated surfacing, goals, and striping to create an improved recreational experience for residents and youth programming. Existing tennis courts at the park were also refreshed through a separate but closely coordinated improvement project.

“The revitalization of N.H. Scott Pool and surrounding recreational amenities reflects DeKalb County’s ongoing commitment to investing in high-quality community spaces that serve residents and families for generations to come,” said Christopher Bass, Parks Director.

Attendees of the upcoming ribbon cutting and community celebration will also have the opportunity to participate in guided park tours and learn more about the improvements and amenities throughout the site. Community members are encouraged to Register Here in advance for the event.
