DeKalb County Voter Registration and Elections Announces General/Special Election Runoff Advance Voting Information

Some voters in DeKalb County will head to the polls again in the upcoming General/Special Election runoff, scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024.

When a candidate does not receive 50 percent plus one vote during the General Election, a runoff election is held.

The runoff election will include: DeKalb County Commission District 3, DeKalb County Super District 7, Atlanta City Council Post 3 (At-Large) and Doraville City Council District 1 – Post 2 (At-Large).

Only DeKalb voters who are registered in the runoff districts are eligible to cast ballots during the runoff. Voters can verify their districts by visiting the Georgia Secretary of State website: https://mvp.sos.ga.gov/s/.

Advance Voting in DeKalb will be held Saturday, Nov. 23 through Wednesday, Nov. 27. Polls are open on Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. — 6 p.m.; on Nov. 24 from noon — 5 p.m., and Nov. 25 — Nov. 27 from 9 a.m. — 6 p.m.

“We encourage voters to learn more about who is on the ballot in the upcoming runoff and to make a plan to vote,” said Keisha Smith, executive director of DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections. “Our staff continues to work hard to facilitate a seamless voting experience for the voters in DeKalb County, and I am so grateful for their hard work.”

Absentee Ballot Reminders:
•    The deadline for requesting an absentee ballot is Nov. 22. If you’re planning to vote absentee, request your ballot www.DeKalbVotes.com and click the absentee voting tab. 
•    Once the absentee ballot is received, be sure to fill it out promptly and return the ballot via a DeKalb County drop box, at any advance voting location without a drop box or via mail (it time allows). 
•    Absentee ballots can also be hand-delivered to DeKalb VRE, located at 4380 Memorial Drive, Suite 300, Decatur, GA 30030.
•    Absentee ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, Election Day.
