UPDATE  - 1:15 P.M.

DeKalb County work crews arrived at midnight this morning to begin preparation for the winter weather event today. The work crews will work 16-hour shifts until Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m. when weather conditions are expected to improve.

 

Activity updates:

  • Roads and Drainage 
    • Staff have responded to 16 calls reporting ice.
    • The rain that has begun to fall only affects material composition. Calcium chloride will be added to the to the distribution mix as temperature drops.
    • Coordination between Roads and Drainage, Fire Rescue, Police and Human services is being done through 911 dispatch.

 

  • Fire Rescue
    • Received 11 calls for assistance.
    • Battalion Chief is at E911 Dispatch triaging calls.
    • Four Tahoe vehicles with two person crews  are in service to assist with trees and wires down calls. 
    • Two ambulances are operating with snow chains.

 

  • Human Services
    • Currently, 222 homeless guests are housed at Frontline facilities. Capacity for 79 additional beds.
    • Guests are provided meals, hygiene products and other supplies.
