Today, Sept. 1, DeKalb County District 7 Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson will be speaking at the BE Safe America Safety Summit & Think Tank, sponsored by Safe America Foundation.
Having recently joined Safe America Foundation as an advocate, Commissioner Cochran-Johnson will support the organization’s new “TV PSAs” initiative as an on-air national correspondent to raise awareness concerning human trafficking, as well as assist in saving lives in the Ukraine and abroad.
“It’s an honor to be chosen as a national spokesperson to promote public safety and to work alongside people like Safe America Foundation’s CEO Len Pagano, who has dedicated his life to helping others,” said Commissioner Cochran-Johnson.
Safe America Foundation is a nonprofit organization that partners with corporate, government, public and private sector organizations, as well as other nonprofits to save lives by emphasizing safety education and emergency preparedness.
Convening from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, the Summit will tackle important issues surrounding safety, nationally as well as locally in the Metro Atlanta area.
Commissioner Cochran-Johnson’s speech will take place at 3:00 p.m. and will kick-off the portion of the program addressing the support of new programs surrounding safety, after which other speakers will share information regarding nonprofits, new food, filtered water, and ways to improve teen driving.
In addition, important presentations surrounding how to assist Veterans in accessing healthcare with Safe America’s “VET Tran” program, ways in which to help Ukraine migrants arriving in Georgia, and how to utilize ambulances for “HUMANS CARE,” a system designed to protect girls from human trafficking, will also be shared.
“Safe America will discuss with other non-profits how we can help expand their donations to upgrade the good they can do,” said Len Pagano, CEO of Safe America Foundation.
The Summit will culminate with a reception, the introduction of Safe America Month and the Saving All Mankind Awards which will honor the following exceptional individuals:

- Improving Energy & Transportation – Tim Echols, GA Public Service Commission

- Protecting Citizens – Nguvi Kahiha, CEO, North America
- Fighting Youth Attacks – AltEvac – Bradley Spacy, CEO
- Providing Safe Transportation – Antoinne Meadows, AMR
The BE Safe America Safety Summit & Think Tank is free and open to the public. Interested individuals are encouraged to register in person at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights.
