Second annual gala will celebrate community, businesses and nonprofits

 

Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson and DeKalb Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Frankie L. Atwater announce the 2nd Annual Spirit of DeKalb Awards Gala set for Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter Ravinia.

The Gala will kick off at 6 p.m. with a VIP reception and silent auction, followed by the awards show at 7 p.m., honoring the achievements of outstanding DeKalb County residents, businesses, civic leaders and nonprofits.

This year’s event host is nationally syndicated radio personality, philanthropist, and DeKalb small business owner Ryan Cameron. Culinary delights will be crafted by noted Executive Chef Brian L. and will feature a spin on last year’s menu that received rave reviews. The gala features 10 award presentations across various categories in recognition of stellar contributions in the following categories:

  • Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Bill Gates Philanthropist of the Year Award
  • Lou Walker Community Impact Award
  • Arthur M. Blank Innovation Award
  • Public Servant of the Year Award
  • Young Entrepreneur Award
  • Business of the Year Award
  • Chamber Volunteer of the Year Award
  • Business Legacy Award
  • Earl A. Walker Small Businessperson of the Year Award

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to two deserving nonprofits: the Day League-DeKalb Rape Crisis Center and the Ethiopian Community Association of Atlanta. The funds will be utilized to support their organizations and initiatives. To learn more about the DeKalb nonprofits, click here.
