DeKalb County will celebrate the conclusion of the DeKalb Virtual Career Academy, its innovative virtual summer youth employment program, on Wednesday, July 10, at 10 a.m., at The DeKalb Conference Center, 495 N. Indian Creek Dr., Clarkston, GA 30021.

“Over the past eight years, nearly 4,700 youth have taken advantage of this opportunity to learn and earn during our summer jobs program, whether in-person or virtually,” DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond said. “The celebration will honor the interns who participated, acknowledging their hard work, dedication and the skills they developed during the program.”

The DeKalb Virtual Career Academy (DVCA) is a collaborative partnership between the DeKalb County Government, DeKalb County School District, Georgia Piedmont Technical College, WorkSource DeKalb, public/private partners, and community resource agencies.

DVCA's primary focus is to close achievement gaps, offer counseling and support to youth and their parents, and provide a positive alternative career experience during the summer months for youth.

The event will be broadcast live on DCTV, Comcast Cable Channel 23 in DeKalb County. For those without Comcast or outside of DeKalb County, the full event can be viewed live on the DCTV page at www.DCTVChannel23.tv.
