DeKalb County District 4 Commissioner Steve Bradshaw will host his Annual Veterans Expo and Fellowship Lunch event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, at Tobie Grant Recreational Center, 593 Parkdale Drive, Scottdale, GA 30079. Commissioner Bradshaw, in collaboration with Atlanta VA HealthCare System, AMVETS Post 44, Georgia Grace and Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs Departments, will provide onsite resources and information about housing, VA benefits, caregivers, trauma recovery, employment and training, mental health, telehealth and women’s wellness programs.

DeKalb County Cooperative Extension will host the 4-H Fall Festival. The Dekalb County 4-H Fall Festival will be October 12, 2024, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will take place at Rainbow Park Baptist Church, 2941 Columbia Drive, Decatur, Ga. 30034. Participants can look forward to activities, including, but not limited to games, arts and crafts, food, bounce houses, a game truck, and prizes. This activity is free.

DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management crews are repairing a broken water main on Perimeter Center West near Hammond Drive. A private contractor installing fiber optics bore through a 12-inch-diameter water main in the area, causing the break. Customers in the area are experiencing low to no water service due to the damaged water line.

The DeKalb County Long Range Planning Division invites the McNair neighborhood to the "Community 101" Final Public Meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 6 p.m. at the N.H. Scott Recreation Center, 2230 Tilson Rd., Decatur, GA 30032. The Planning & Sustainability department will discuss survey results, recommendations, action plans, a community ambassador opportunity, and next steps for a “Community 102.”

Belvedere Lane, between San Gabriel Avenue and Rupert Drive, will be closed to through-traffic 9 a.m. Wednesday, September 11 through 9 p.m. Wednesday, October 9 to facilitate a stormwater drain replacement at 2930 Belvedere Lane, Decatur, Ga. Road closure and detour signs will be placed in the area during the road closure period advising motorists of construction work in the area and of local traffic restrictions.
