DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson and the Center Helping Obesity in Children End Successfully (C.H.O.I.C.E.S.) extends their partnership to help parents get a healthy jumpstart on preparing for their children to go back to school. Super District 7 Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson is proud to announce that the Final Four Tournament of the Police Athletic League (PAL) Basketball After Dark is underway. The Final Four games began June 25 and run through June 27. The week will conclude with a game Friday, June 28, at 10 p.m. between DeKalb County PAL youth participants playing against the Atlanta PAL. The final game will take place at South DeKalb YMCA, 2565 Snapfinger Road, Decatur.

DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs announces county pools and facilities will be open on a modified schedule from Aug. 6 through Sept. 4. DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will host a Gateway to Fishing Program, Saturday, Aug. 12 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Park, 3985 LeHigh Blvd., Decatur, Ga. The event will take place at the fishing pond.

This Saturday, July 29, 2023, Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson will be hosting a clean-up workday at the Arabia Mountain Vineyard to help DeKalb County's first wine grape vineyard. Arabia Mountain Vineyard, located in Stonecrest, GA, is family-owned and is the only wine-grape vineyard in the metro Atlanta area. It covers over 18-acres and is a premier tourist destination for residents in the state and across the U.S.
