The DeKalb County Human Services Department will celebrate National Senior Center Month this September with a variety of virtual programs, outdoor activities and entertainment. Senior Center Month is a national celebration, sponsored by the National Council on Aging, designed to promote positive aging.

DeKalb County Government is partnering with local faith leaders to distribute 4,100 boxes of produce and chicken on Friday, Sept. 10, and Saturday, Sept. 11. DeKalb CEO Michael Thurmond and the Board of Commissioners are extending a special invitation to DeKalb residents who are hosting Hurricane Ida evacuees.

The DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections announced eight advance voting locations for the upcoming November general municipal and special election. The advance voting locations align with newly established state mandates as a result of SB202.

DeKalb County Fleet Management Deputy Director Robert Gordon is one of three to be inducted into the Public Fleet Hall of Fame, supported by Government Fleet and the American Public Works Association. Gordon was chosen from a select group of administrators because of his outstanding leadership and contribution to the industry. Sought after nationally for his expertise, Gordon frequently volunteers his knowledge to other municipalities looking to better their fleet initiatives.

The DeKalb County Roads and Drainage Floodplain Management Office offers residents general floodplain management information on flood hazards, planning, prevention, and mitigation free of charge. This is part of activities under the Community Rating System Program of the county.
