DeKalb County Government is honoring the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, attack by partnering with local faith leaders to distribute 4,100 boxes of produce and chicken on Friday, Sept. 10, and Saturday, Sept. 11. “By serving our neighbors threatened by food insecurity, we are honoring the memory of those brave men and women who lost their lives on 9/11,” DeKalb CEO Michael Thurmond said.

DeKalb’s Board of Registration and Elections recently approved changes to four polling locations ahead of the Nov. 2 General Election. Due to various issues including ongoing construction at previous polling locations, some voters in Chamblee, Doraville and Stonecrest may be assigned a new polling location this election cycle. DeKalb Voter Registration and Election also announced that impacted voters will receive correspondence in the mail with information regarding their new polling location.
Commissioner Steve Bradshaw Will Host a Veterans Vaccine Drive on 20th Anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001

Commissioner Steve Bradshaw will host his third Veterans Expo on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Mason Mill Park, located at 1340 McConnell Dr., Decatur, GA 30033. “This year, we will focus on vaccinating veterans and the family members they bring with them to the drive-thru event,” Commissioner Bradshaw said. “Considering the spike of the COVID-19 Delta variant, we refocused our efforts this year to solely focus on vaccinations.”

The DeKalb County Human Services Department will celebrate National Senior Center Month this September with a variety of virtual programs, outdoor activities and entertainment. Senior Center Month is a national celebration, sponsored by the National Council on Aging, designed to promote positive aging.
