On Feb. 2, the southbound lane along Thurman Road, between Old McDonough Road and Wilburn Road, will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., while crews work to rehabilitate 195 linear feet of ductile-iron sewer pipe. This section of Thurman Road will reopen on Saturday, Feb. 6.

DeKalb County Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson will partner with the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority (FDHA) to moderate a discussion aimed at providing background, understanding, information and resources on human trafficking. The virtual “FDHA Community Conversation on Violence: Human Trafficking” event will take place Thursday, Jan. 27, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and will be a continuation of the FDHA's 2021 Health Summit “Stop The Violence” initiative.

DeKalb County Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson will host a special town hall to inform residents about the $900 billion coronavirus relief bill passed by the U. S. Congress in December 2020. The DeKalb County Coronavirus Economic Relief Bill Town Hall will be held Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021, at 6 p.m., and will feature legal, real estate and small business experts who will discuss the bill and explain how it will aid residents suffering economically due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Kirk Road, between Avery Street and South Candler Street, will be closed to through-traffic from 6 a.m., Monday, Feb. 15, to Friday, Feb. 19, to facilitate the installation of a sewer liner at 329 Kirk Road in Decatur. Road closure and detour signs will be placed in the area during the road closure period advising motorists of construction work in the area and of local traffic restrictions.
