DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson will host his annual Spring community cleanups for the south DeKalb community beginning at 9:30 a.m. each Saturday starting March 27 through April 24. Commissioner Johnson will be joined by Commissioner Ted Terry and Sheriff Melody Maddox.

DeKalb County Voter Registration and Elections (DeKalb VRE) has completed preliminary tabulations for the special election to fill the unexpired term of Yterenickia “YT” Bell on the Clarkston City Council. The election included three candidates: Shana McAllister, Dean Moore, and Mark Perkins.

The DeKalb Human Services Department will host a virtual workshop for parents and other stakeholders on March 24, 2021, at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the potential impact of trauma and stress on students. This workshop, titled “RISE UP,” will be held in partnership with Kaiser Permanente and will feature theater, experiential learning, and arts integration techniques to engage participants.

The DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will participate virtually in the Atlanta Science Festival on March 13-27, 2021. DeKalb Park Ranger’s will offer a virtual ranger roundtable and two self-guided programs. The Atlanta Festival is dedicated to bringing people together through the wonder of science and participants will experience over 80 virtual, self-guided and outdoor events to enjoy.
