DeKalb County is grieving the tragic loss of Officer David Rose, who was killed in the line of duty on Friday, August 8, while responding to a call involving a reported gunman near Clifton Road and CDC Parkway. Officer Rose, 33, joined the DeKalb County Police Academy in September 2024 and graduated from the police academy in March of this year.  He was assigned to the North Central Precinct. He quickly earned the respect of his colleagues for his dedication, courage, and professionalism.

DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management crews completed repairs to a damaged sanitary sewer main at 2382 Hunting Valley Drive.  All roads in the surrounding area have been reopened. The sewer line was inadvertently damaged by Atlanta Gas Light contractors.

In a bold and unanimous vote, the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners has approved the $8 million investment required to secure 60 units within Park 500 —that will serve unhoused and housing insecure families, many of which are currently living in extended stay motels throughout the County. The project marks a historic moment in DeKalb’s approach to housing and social support, representing the County’s first direct investment and ownership interest in a transitional housing development.

The Tucker-Northlake Community Improvement District (CID) announced a new partnership with DeKalb County Commissioner Robert Patrick to expand police patrol coverage throughout District 1. Commissioner Patrick has allocated $100,000 to enhance the CID's existing off-duty officer patrol program, extending coverage to residential and commercial areas in unincorporated DeKalb County, Georgia.
