February Programs
Interpretive and Recreational Hiking with Ranger Robby--Every Friday and 2nd & 4th Sunday - 8:00 a.m.
Join us for a hike and learn about the Preserves’ natural and cultural resources. We’ll take in the views and leave you with a better understanding of local history, industry, and the nature in old Klondike. Hikes are moderate for 2-3 hours. Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring your own water.
Winter Cocoa Walk—Friday, February 10th - 8:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m.
Don’t let winter stop you from hiking! Brave the cold with a warm drink in hand and experience the natural and cultural resources of Preserve during winter. Please bring your own travel mug and dress appropriately for the weather.
Flat Rock Culture: Historical Communities and Culture, Sunday February 12th _ 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Celebrate and honor Black History Month by joining Johnny Waites of the Flat Rock Archive to learn about DeKalb’s rich African American history. We’ll visit the exhibits of the Archive, hear oral histories, and plant fruit trees with Ranger Robby to keep DeKalb’s agricultural heritage alive. Donations to the Archive are welcome.
Stewardship Saturday Volunteer Day— Saturday, February 25th - 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Help us care for and maintain Arabia’s award winning trail system by mulching and clearing trails, picking up littler/trash, and working on special projects. Bring your own lunch and water please. We’ll provide tools and gloves.
March Programs

Monadnock Madness, March 1-31- 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
During the month of March we are hosting several special guided hikes and events that will get you close and personal with Arabia, Panola, and Stone Mountain. Please visit www.monadnockmadness.com for details and registration.
Ranger Madness: Junior Ranger Day—Sunday, March 19th - 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Join youth, families, and the Rangers of Arabia and Panola Mountain Parks for a half-day of Junior Ranger activities for youth in grades 7-12. We’ll hike, learn about plant conservation, and perform service projects. Youth and their families can complete activities using the new Junior Ranger Activity Journal and receive the Junior Ranger badge. Meet at the Panola Mountain State Park Nature Center.
Hiking Stick Workshop and Stewardship Saturday Volunteer Day— Saturday, March 25th - 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Help us care and maintain Arabia’s award winning trail system by clearing and mulching trails. After lunch, ‘stick around’ to make your own hiking stick. Bring your own lunch and water please. We’ll provide tools, gloves, and sticks.
Ruins of Arabia—Sunday, March 26th - 10:00 a.m to1:00 p.m.
Learn about Arabia’s industrious historical past through the lens of old rock ruins with veteran Preserve volunteer Tom Smith. Old quarry buildings, homestead foundations, and mystery structures are revealed each winter. Come explore with us.
