DeKalb County continues to experience positive growth in businesses and population. As a result, there is a need for an increase in high-quality wastewater treatment. The South River is a key asset and must be protected from pollution as the county grows. The new facility will improve treatment for both water and odors, provide for the County’s growth and improve the water quality of the South River.
This project, combined with DeKalb County’s stream improvement program, is designed to enhance both water quality and aesthetics of the South River. DeKalb County is currently executing the South River Action Plan (SRAP). As a part of the SRAP, the critical needs of the South River have been identified, and continued work is being done to evaluate and prioritize the critical needs in order to address and improve the water quality conditions of the South River.
