Compliance Inspector

Mission Statement:
The Compliance Inspectors’ mission is to educate the public and the Food Service Establishments (FSE) that produce the by-products known as Fats, Oils, and Greases (FOG) on proper Capacity, Management, Operation & Maintenance of the wastewater collection system. Also to enforce the county’s codes and ordinances to reduce sanitary sewer overflows.

 

Compliance Inspectors:
All Compliance Inspectors hold Bachelor’s degrees and many hold Master’s degrees in various disciplines. We have an incredibly talented group of Engineers, Biologists, and Chemists helping to make this program one of the best in the country.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Conducts inspections of fats, oils, and greases interceptors of food service establishments.
  • Sets up and maintains sampling and flow monitoring devices/equipment.
  • Processes and services customer complaints.
  • Maintains individual inspection files and enters information into computer.
  • Works with and maintains the FOG Mobile Database.
  • Appears and testifies in court concerning non-compliance of
    codes* and ordinances.
  • Completes and maintains departmental inspection records and
    prepares monthly reports.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all applicable codes and
    ordinances.
  • Attends continuing educational seminars and conferences
    pertaining to Capacity, Management, Operation and Maintenance (CMOM) Federal and State regulations.
  • Assists in tracing the sources of illegal, harmful, or excessive waste discharges into the County’s sewer system and surface waters.
