Update (10/22/15) The compliance deadline for the new garbage and recycling container procedure has been extended. We will continue to service all garbage and recycling containers, including customer-provided containers, until December 31, 2015. Effective January 1, 2016, only county-issued garbage and recycling containers will be serviced.

Update (10/16/15) Effective Monday, Oct. 19, the Sanitation Division will no longer service customer-provided garbage or recycling containers. Only county-issued garbage roll carts and recycling containers will be serviced. Third-party or customer-provided yard trimmings containers are exempt from this procedure. Residents who have not received a county-issued garbage roll cart will receive a compliance extension beyond Oct. 19. Please call (404) 294-2900 with any questions.
Update (10/12/15) Effective Monday, Oct. 19, the Sanitation Division will no longer service customer-provided garbage or recycling containers placed at the curb for collection. Only county-issued garbage roll carts and recycling containers will be serviced. Third-party or customer-provided yard trimmings containers are exempt from this procedure. Residents not in compliance after Oct. 19 will be issued a notice advising of the use of an unapproved container. The use of secure, durable plastic bags for excess garbage disposal will be permitted if county-issued garbage roll carts are inadequate to meet customers’ garbage disposal needs. Update (10/02/15) Garbage roll cart delivery to townhomes and condominiums is underway. Management associations can complete a garbage roll cart declaration form advising of their residents’ roll cart preference by clicking here, or downloading the form from the menu listing to the left. All forms can be emailed to Adrian Sloan at adsloan@dekalbcountyga.gov.
Update (09/29/15) Garbage roll cart delivery to townhomes and condominiums continues. Management teams for these communities who have not received roll carts, and have not completed a cart declaration form advising of their residents’ roll cart preference are kindly encouraged to contact Adrian Sloan at (404) 294-2310 or adsloan@dekalbcountyga.gov.
Update (09/24/15) Roll cart delivery to all detached single-family homes throughout the County is complete, with deliveries to townhomes and condominiums underway. Any customers in single-family detached homes who have not received a garbage roll cart should contact our customer service team at (404) 294-2900. Phase II of the program, which will focus on recycling and the rightsizing of garbage roll carts, will begin toward the end of October*. Please check back weekly for updates.

Update (09/01/15) Garbage roll cart delivery to all Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday once-a-week customers residing in single-family detached homes in the south, central and east areas of DeKalb have been completed. Delivery to Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday customers in single-family detached homes in the north area of DeKalb has been completed, with Thursday customers’ delivery to be completed once additional roll carts become available in the coming weeks. Delivery to townhomes and condominiums will begin Labor Day weekend and distributed as carts become available. Update (08/28/15) Roll cart delivery in south and east areas of DeKalb County is complete for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday customers, with Thursday customers scheduled for completion this weekend. In central DeKalb, delivery to Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday customers is complete; Thursday customers are underway and scheduled for completion within the next couple of weeks. In north DeKalb, delivery to Monday and Tuesday customers is complete; Wednesday customers are underway and scheduled for completion next week; Thursday customers are scheduled for completion in the next few weeks. Roll cart delivery to townhome and condominium residents will occur in Phase II, which is expected to begin in September.
Update (08/25/15) We have completed roll cart deliveries for most Wednesday customers. However, there are a limited number of areas where deliveries are still being made to Wednesday customers. Additionally, roll cart deliveries to Thursday customers in some areas is underway. We are working diligently to complete roll cart deliveries as soon as possible to all customers in single-family detached homes. Another update will be provided as soon as possible.

The estimated completion date for roll cart delivery to all customers residing in single-family detached homes is the end of August. As roll cart deliveries are completed for each service day, an update will be provided.
Update (07/13/15) The delivery of green 65-gallon garbage roll carts to all single-family residential customers with a Monday once-a-week collection day is 90 percent complete. We expect to complete deliveries to Monday customers by the end of this week. Roll cart deliveries to Tuesday once-a-week customers will begin by the end of this week. We estimate that all Sanitation Division customers will receive their roll carts by the end of August. In the meantime and until a roll cart is received, residents can continue using their own containers for garbage disposal. Update (07/02/15) The last day for twice-a-week garbage collection service is Friday, July 3. Beginning the week of Monday, July 6, all single-family residential customers will receive same-day garbage, recyclable materials and yard trimmings collection, one day per week. The delivery of garbage roll carts will continue throughout the month of July. Currently, roll cart delivery to Monday once-a-week customers is underway. We will provide an update once roll carts deliveries for Monday once-a-week customers have been completed. Please check back soon for updates.

Update (06/15/15) Door hanger notifications advising of residents’ new designated collection day have been completed. Update (06/01/15) One-day-a-week garbage, recyclable materials and yard trimmings collection resident notifications are underway. Over the next few weeks, all customers will receive door hanger notifications indicating their new designated collection day and effective date for one-day-a-week collection service.
Update (05/28/15) The DeKalb County Sanitation Division officially launched the “Rolling Forward to One” one-day-a-week sanitation collection service change program on Thursday, May 28, 2015. The program’s primary focus is consolidating collection schedules to improve service delivery and efficiencies, while remaining fiscally responsible in the face of rising operating costs. Effective July 6, 2015, all garbage, recyclable materials and yard trimmings will be collected on the same day. In addition, the Sanitation Division will be providing green garbage roll carts to every single-family household in unincorporated DeKalb, and the cities of Brookhaven, Dunwoody and Lithonia receiving sanitation collection services from the County’s Sanitation Division. Information on the program’s implementation timeline has been released (see "Implementation Timeline" menu item for more information).
