Scott Candler Water Treatment Plant

The Scott Chandler Water Treatment Plant is the drinking water plant that serves DeKalb County. This plant was originally constructed in 1942 and named after the DeKalb County commissioner and visionary of the water system - Scott Candler. The original plant underwent 8 expansions over the years before the new plant was constructed in 2007. The current plant can treat up to 150 MGD (million gallons per day). On a daily basis, 70-100 million gallons of water is pumped from the Chattahoochee River and brought into the plant for treatment. Plant employees ensure that the water is properly treated and continuously available for safe consumption and use.
