Jacob Vallo is a seasoned professional who brings more than twenty-five years of experience in real estate, development, and capital investments to the position of Chief Development Officer. Vallo possesses a wealth of experience in both public and private sector development. Vallo's diverse background encompasses development, capital procurement, investments, and an understanding of public and private sector business skills that facilitate his ability to approach complex problem-solving and partnership structuring to achieve organizational and community development goals.
Formerly Vallo served as the Chief Investment Officer of Lalami Ventures, owner of Underground Atlanta and the 31-story adaptive reuse project 34 Peachtree, which recently announced a $30 million reuse development and a $40 million planned mixed-use tower at 76 Wall Street that includes 405 units of student, income-restricted and market-rate housing, art incubators, retail and public spaces. Prior to joining Lalani Ventures, Vallo served 5 years at MARTA as the Assistant General Manager for Real Estate Development and Asset Management, where he oversaw transit-oriented development, public private partnerships, and land partnerships with governments and non-profits. He previously spent two decades in the private sector working for some of Atlanta's top firms and organizations, including Jamestown, Hines, the Rockefeller Group and the Westside Future Fund - known for providing high-quality affordable housing for Atlanta's Historic Westside legacy residents.
A former partner at The Roseview Group, Vallo specialized in development, acquisitions, fund and asset management, capital raising and investor relations. Prior to Roseview, Vallo was a Managing Director and Partner at Reynolds Capital Group, LLC, in Atlanta, where he was primarily responsible for fund management of the $132 million Southeast Land Acquisition Fund, which invested in commercial and residential land in distressed residential communities. Vallo also served as Vice President of Acquisitions for Atlanta-based Jamestown Properties' $650 million Co-Invest IV Opportunity Fund. Prior to Jamestown, he spent eight years at Hines Interests' Southeast regional office where he was involved in acquisition and development transactions.
Vallo has a strong track record of focusing on real estate opportunities that not only provide strong returns to their investors, but also enhance the social and economic development of the built environment. His development strategies and decision making are heavily research-oriented, drawing from science, engineering, technology, art and various disciplines to develop creative projects that meet or exceed investment and community objectives.
Vallo has been a member of the Urban Land Institute since 1996. Vallo graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Science from Texas A&M University and a Master's Degree in Real Estate with a concentration in Finance from Cornell University. Vallo has completed the acquisition of 23,500 acres of land, 500 single-family residential lots and 4.5 million square feet of office space and has been the Chief Investment Officer for a $175 million private equity fund. He has been involved in more than $1.5 billion in transactions.
