Gregory Padrick Interim Chief Greg Padrick has proudly served DeKalb County as a police officer for over 27 years, holding a variety of roles across multiple divisions. Before beginning his career in law enforcement, Chief Padrick served in the United States Marine Corps, demonstrating his commitment to service from an early stage. His extensive experience includes working in both the Uniform Division and the Criminal Investigation Division, as well as serving in Internal Affairs and the Office of the Chief of Police. In the Uniform Division, Interim Chief Padrick has progressed through the ranks from patrol officer to assistant chief, serving as the Uniform Division Commander. Within the Criminal Investigation Division, he has worked as a detective and supervisor in several specialized units, including the Homicide Unit, Auto Theft Unit, Narcotics Unit, HIDTA (High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) Unit, and Intelligence Unit. He also served as the Criminal Investigation Division Commander. Interim Chief Padrick is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy (247th Session) and has completed leadership programs such as the Southern Police Institute’s Chief Executive Leadership Course and the International Association of Chiefs of Police Leadership in Police Organizations (LPO) Course. He has also earned multiple certifications through the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Council, including basic, intermediate, advanced, supervisory, managerial, and general instructor certifications.
