Ms. Sanders, in her position as County Clerk, sees her primary mission as serving the interests of the entire community by enabling good government through the innovative use of technology. In 2006, Ms. Sanders was Certified as a County Clerk by the University of Georgia; she is also a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, (IIMC) where she is currently working on her CMC (Certified Municipal Clerk) designation. In addition she is also a member of the National Association of County Records, Election Officials & Clerks (NACRC), National Association of Counties (NACo), An Honored Member of Stanford Who's Who and has been a member of ACCG in excess of 15 years. In an effort to remain in compliance with the many changes in State Law, Ms. Sanders continues instructional courses at the University of Georgia.
Ms. Sanders is committed to serve the Citizens of DeKalb County through Records Management. An example of her commitment has been the implementation of a "paperless office" initiative. This initiative seeks to reduce and in some cases eliminate the use of paper in the filing and storage of official documents and public records. The key components of this initiative are the scanning and electronic imaging of all new and existing documents and the creation of an electronic filing system on the County Server. This allows for more efficient, cost-effective operations, which ensures preservation and integrity of all records, and enables increased access and safeguards information.
Understanding that information is only valuable if it can be used by those who need it, Ms. Sanders designed the Clerk's Office website for utilizing technology to provide the public with unprecedented levels of access to the Clerk's Office records. Working in conjunction with their vendor, Doc Depot, the County Clerk provides all of its current minutes online, free of charge through the Counties website.
The efforts undertaken by Ms. Sanders have produced impressive results. Currently, 90% of all records filed with the Clerk's Office have been filed electronically.
Currently Ms. Sanders and her team are in the process of converting the Commission from panel keypads to touch screen voting devices. As part of this effort, her team along with Granicus has implemented a pilot program for the Commission via iLegataliave App on the Ipads. Ms. Sanders is sure it will be a sweeping success.
Serving the fastest growing county in Georgia is an exciting challenge, and the DeKalb County Clerk's Department is constantly reviewing and updating office systems, processes and procedures to better meet the needs of those we serve as "Service is at the very heart of our mission."
