Fire Rescue received a 45K dollar grant for compensation of uninsured patients that are transported. This is the first time we have ever received this award. Two new Engines were placed in service at stations 15 and 26. We teamed up with Gear for the Brave to donate used personal protection equipment (PPE) to Firefighters in Ecuador.
On November 18, animal oxygen masks were added to all units. This was made possible by a very generous donation from The Invisible Fence Company.
Looking ahead ... 2012
In the first quarter we anticipate starting a new Rescue Sticker program with Shepherd Spinal Center. This program will identify homes with special needs citizens so responders will know when assistance with exiting a structure will be needed. This program is the first of its kind and we hope it will eventually go regional and possibly national after our initial roll out.
Fire Station 10 located at 1686 Constitution Road, Atlanta, 30316 is scheduled to reopen from its remodeling in January with all new plumbing, electrical, HVAC, windows and a new roof. Two new drive-through bays have also been added. This upgrade will ensure an adequate sized facility for responders for years to come.
