The DeKalb Animal Services Task Force was developed with the goal of improving the quality of life for companion animals in DeKalb County. Strategies to reach this goal include promoting good choices by pet owners; restructuring DeKalb Animal Services; enhancing/developing new strategic collaborations between agencies, non-profit organizations and concerned citizens; improving enforcement tools and practices; and enhancing facilities used to institutionally house or manage companion animals in DeKalb County. Over the next eight months, members of this task force will review existing practices in DeKalb, looking at how other communities address similar issues and prioritizing strategies that keep our companion animals happy, healthy and loved.
We are always in search of volunteers to come and help out at the shelter. If you are interested in volunteering please email Kennel Supervisor Tamica Reese for information.
Please remember that we do give an employee discount to Dekalb County employees who are interested in adopting an animal. We have a wide selection to choose from, and if anyone has specific interests please let us know! Please email our Adoption Coordinator Jamie Martinez. You may also visit our website where you can find a link to view our animals. "Big" thanks to the three professional photographers who volunteer their time to photograph the majority of our animals!
