DECATUR, Ga.—The DeKalb County Board of Commissioners voted to approve grants requested by DeKalb Human Services for 41 agencies serving the county. The grants are endowed from two sources: $617,808 from the county’s general fund and $187,500 from the Victim Assistance Fund, which is paid for with court fees.
“DeKalb County Human Services has identified terrific partners in our community that meet strict criteria to receive these awards,” said Allen Mitchell, director of DeKalb County Community Development. “We are excited to see how these agencies impact the county’s populations in need over the next program year.”
This year, Human Services implemented a restructured grant award protocol. The standards set a minimum grant award of $15,600, included a thorough scoring system to award top-performing agencies and requires that at least 50 percent of an awarded grant be used for programming.
Agencies awarded serve the following areas: advocacy, child welfare, youth, crisis intervention, disability, elderly and health.
