The DeKalb County Office of Senior Affairs provides Information, Referral and Assistance Services. The Office also plans, coordinates, and subcontracts for provision of five (5) additional services including the following:
- Case Management
- Congregate Meals at Senior Centers
- Home-Delivered Meals
- In-Home Services
- Transportation
The services listed above are primarily for the frail elderly, targeting those with the greatest economic and social need. The Office of Senior Affairs carefully monitors the subcontracted services and ensures contract compliance, quality delivery and non-duplication of services, and fiscal accountability.
In addition, the Office of Senior Affairs coordinates with other aging service providers, faith-based organizations, and human service organizations to ensure that the DeKalb community promotes a continuum of services for seniors, both well-active and frail. The Office provides staff support to the Senior Roundtable, established to monitor the ongoing implementation of the Bridge Builders’ Community Action Plan for Senior Services, 2003-2007.
