Save the Date – May 16th, 2025
Commissioner Michelle Long Spears of DeKalb County District 2 is excited to announce the date and location of the second annual “State of DeKalb Animals” address. The address and luncheon will take place on May 16, 2025 at the newly remodeled Emory Conference Center Hotel.
Attendees will hear multiple speakers as they update the community on the many ways that the Save Our DeKalb Animals Initiative has been able to further the animal welfare goals set forth by the DeKalb County Animal Services Advisory Board’s Plan for a Better Tomorrow.
The Plan for a Better Tomorrow outlined five goals designed to improve the lives of pets in the county and the lives of the people who care for them. These goals include creating more space in the shelter, improving staffing and benefits for both the shelter and animal enforcement, direct support for people and their pets, preventing increases in homeless animals, and decreasing the length of stay for court held animals.
The event will be held in the Lullwater Ballroom of the Emory Conference Center Hotel at 1615 Clifton Road NE in Decatur. Doors will open for attendees at 10:30 am. Lunch will be provided. Registration will open to the public on April 11th. To learn more, please visit www.michellelongspears.com/SODA, call 404 371 2863, or text 470 722 1654.
