DeKalb County Voter Registration and Elections (DeKalb VRE) formally announced the winners of the “I Voted” Sticker Design Challenge, a creative initiative to foster civic engagement among young artists in the community, during the DeKalb Board of Registration and Elections meeting on Thursday, October 10.

The winners of the challenge are as follows:

  • Grand Prize – Charlie Anderson, 11th grader at Druid Hills High School
  • 1st Runner-up – Laylah Lewis, 12th grader at DeKalb Early College Academy
  • 2nd Runner-up – Kamryn Pierce, 11th grader at DeKalb School of the Arts

“These talented students have demonstrated exceptional creativity in designing a sticker that reflects their vision for DeKalb County and the importance of voting,” said Keisha Smith, Executive Director of DeKalb VRE. “This contest is one of the many ways we are encouraging our younger residents to get involved in the democratic process and stay engaged as they become future voters.”

The “I Voted” Sticker Design Challenge invited DeKalb County high school juniors and seniors to submit their original designs, reflecting their vision for the county. The winning designs will be available to voters as an option during the November 2024 election season. Additionally, the winning artist will receive a grand prize of $500, with the first and second runners-up receiving $200 and $100, respectively.

“We are also incredibly appreciative to the members of the ‘I Voted’ Sticker Design Challenge review panel for their time as their evaluations played a crucial role in selecting these outstanding designs,” Smith added.

The review panel included:

  • Cynthia Benefield, Director, Porter Sanford III Performing Arts and Community Center
  • Shelbia Jackson, Director, DeKalb Entertainment Commission
  • Andrew Keenan, Executive Director, Callanwolde Fine Arts Center
